Car Battery Cost in Dubai and Sharjah
4 minute read · Updated · Al Nahda Battery
The short answer. A car battery costs AED 249 to 1,200 fitted in Dubai and Sharjah, depending on the vehicle: AED 249 to 349 for a hatchback, AED 279 to 449 for a saloon, AED 449 to 749 for an SUV and AED 549 to 1,200 for luxury and European cars. Those figures cover the battery, fitting at your location and the warranty.
Ask three shops for a battery price and you may hear three very different numbers for what sounds like the same thing. The spread is real, and most of it comes down to what is included and how fresh the stock is.
The figures in this article are fitted prices: battery, installation at your location and a manufacturer's warranty. A price that leaves any of those out is not comparable.
Typical fitted prices
For hatchbacks such as the Yaris, Picanto or Swift, expect AED 249 to 349. Saloons including the Corolla, Sunny, Altima and Elantra fall between AED 279 and 449. Crossovers such as the RAV4, Tucson and Sportage run from AED 349 to 549.
Bigger engines need more capacity and more cranking current. SUVs and 4x4s, the Patrol, Land Cruiser and Prado among them, cost AED 449 to 749, and pickups AED 499 to 799. Luxury and European cars range from AED 549 to 1,200. Vans and commercial vehicles come in at AED 549 to 999.

Flooded, EFB and AGM
A conventional flooded battery is the least expensive type and suits cars with ordinary electrical demands. EFB, or enhanced flooded, has reinforced plates that tolerate frequent restarts. AGM holds its electrolyte in glass-fibre mats, delivers high current, recovers well from deep discharge and costs the most.
Cars with start-stop need EFB or AGM, as specified by the maker. A flooded battery fitted in its place will wear out within months, and the car's energy management may log faults. Many European models also require the new battery to be registered with the car's computer.
Why the date on the label matters
Batteries age on the shelf as well as in the car. Each one carries a manufacturing date, either printed plainly or as a short code. Stock less than six months old is ideal. Anything that has sat for over a year in a hot storeroom has already lost part of its life.
Old stock is one of the commonest reasons for a price that seems too good. Ask to see the date before the battery goes in.
What an honest quote includes
A complete quote names the brand, the capacity in amp-hours and the battery type. It states the warranty period in months, includes fitting and the removal of the old battery, and says whether VAT is in the figure. It should not change when the technician arrives unless a separate fault is found and you agree to the extra work.
Get the quote in writing. A WhatsApp message is enough, and it gives both sides something to refer to.
Spending sensibly
The cheapest battery that meets the car's specification is often the right choice for an older car you plan to sell. For a car you intend to keep, a mid-range battery with a longer warranty usually works out cheaper per month of service.
What rarely pays is buying below the specification. Saving a hundred dirhams on a battery the car cannot use properly tends to mean buying a second battery before the year is out.
